Buddy Programmes

Buddy Programmes

Our buddy programmes are designed for those who have a common issue with their dogs that they would like to address a semi-private rather than fully private format. These programmes involve two clients working on the same/similar issues in the same session which allows both clients to save money, see progress with another dog-handler team and get a training buddy to support them along their journey as well as allowing you to save some money when booking.

These programmes are not available for any behaviours that must be worked on in a home visit or for certain behavioural issues such as resource guarding. If you are unsure whether the issues you would like to address are suitable for buddy programmes please reach out and let us know, a member of the team would be more than happy to advise.

Buddy programmes are ideal for puppy clients, manners and general training clients, most dog to dog or dog to human reactivity cases and car/bike/jogger chasing. Any behavioural clients will require veterinary referrals, please click HERE for more information.

Please note that there are discounts for anyone who has booked a set of classes, a 121 programme or a workshop within the last year or those who work in the emergency services. Heavy discounts are provided for clients who have already met their buddy and are ready to book in together at the time of enquiry. Ask about these discounts when you get in touch to book.

FAQ

Most frequently asked questions and answers

You will be sent a behaviour history form upon enquiring about buddy programmes and we will advise which programme between training and behaviour is appropriate for you. Any dog under 6 months old will be booked in for a puppy programme.

Full payment of your chosen programme or the first payment in your payment plan is due as soon as your first session is confirmed as in the diary.

Rescheduling buddy sessions is not as flexible as our 121 bookings because of the need to coordinate three diaries. If you cannot attend a scheduled buddy session you forefeit that session and will not be refunded or entitled to alternative services for the equivalent cost. Your buddy will still go ahead with the originally planned date by themselves at the same price.

Typically trainers try to keep between three to five exercises per session. However this does depend on the content covered and the issues being addressed, sometimes we deal with one or two small things in addition to the typical three to five exercises.

Everyone in the family can attend if they wish to. For insurance purposes however we are unable to have minors (<18) attend without an adult.

Sessions take place at the Great Field in Poundbury.

If your buddy asks about something that doesn’t apply to you then you will be given an alternative task to work on that is specific to you and your dog whilst their issue is addressed. Buddies will be matched evenly to ensure that there any need to work separately is reduced and maintain an even balance between clients.

Except in the case of extenuating circumstances these programmes are nonrefundable, either for the whole programme or as single sessions.

Please get in touch to discuss this. Unless we have a buddy who is also working with multiple dogs on similar issues it is more likely that you will need to book separate buddy packages for each dog to ensure that time is devoted evenly between each buddy.
